How much is the life of a child born? And how much is the life of a child with congenital pathologies worth? It is priceless! But it completely depends on the financial support of the hospital and the level of professionalism of the doctors. After all, saving children who were born with congenital pathologies of various complexity is the painstaking work of a team of doctors and great faith of parents for the best. This project is aimed at saving small patients of the Odesa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, namely: the purchase of blocks of reagents and electrodes for a blood gas analyzer. Without them, saving children is simply impossible!
Every year, more than 1,200 children are treated in intensive care (intensive care) units. All these patients require frequent and quick control of laboratory indicators, which are provided by expensive equipment and the appropriate level of skill of the employees of the clinical laboratory department. One of the important laboratory studies is determination of gas composition of blood and acid-alkaline balance. Blood is an environment where it is very important to control the pH, as it is involved in many processes and performs many functions. Any change in the acid-alkaline ratio can lead to undesirable consequences. It is important to understand that blood is a fairly good indicator, with which you can learn about the condition of tissues in which structural or functional disorders have occurred. This analysis is especially relevant for patients undergoing artificial lung ventilation, as well as for patients with impaired microcirculation. With the help of the analyzer in the intensive care unit, this study is carried out in just a few seconds, which is extremely important at the time of examination of the child's condition.
At the moment, the full-fledged work of the clinical laboratory of the Odesa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, which consists of: neonatal resuscitation, general resuscitation and cardiac surgery resuscitation, directly depends on the availability of the EasyStat reagent block and electrodes. With the help of only one block of reagents, about 90 analyzes can be performed within 30 days, after which it is necessary to replace this block of reagents. And so month after month...
At the beginning of March, technical malfunctions were detected in the operation of the blood gas analyzer, which served to conduct further diagnostics of the device. As a result, it was found necessary to replace two parts in the equipment: the РСО2 and РО2 electrodes. This ongoing repair has become a serious test for the clinical laboratory staff, so the supplier company has loaned the parts to the hospital, but they must be paid for in the near future.
Our goal is to purchase a quarterly supply of consumables to ensure the continuous operation of the clinical laboratory. Implementation of the project will save more than a dozen small lives in the Odesa region.
